Springfield Armory XD-M Elite 9mm Concealed Carry Pistol
Springfield has come up with a revolutionary model that fires with a striker called the XD-M Elite. The XD Elite is a striking handgun with a suppressor height iron sight with an ambidextrous sliding stop with upgraded serrations. The gun comes in a compact size.
The XD-M Elite also sports an interchangeable backstrap mechanism using three different inserts. This lets the pistol comfortably accommodate a range of hand sizes.
Eyes with Optical Lenses
The XD Series Elite is Springfield Armory’s upgrade to their popular line of polymer-frame striker-fired pistols. This XD-M Elite pistol comes with the specifications that competitive shooters require as part of a kit designed specifically for use in the field. The XD-M Elite comes with a match barrel with improved serrations as well as an Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly.
The barrel is made of hammer and finished with the Melonite match grade finish. Its compact frame grip makes it easy to conceal for everyday carry. A combination of high performance and high capacity makes it a great EDC choice.
Out of the box, the XD M Elite comes with everything you need for use with any red dot sight you like. The angled dustcover comes with a Picatinny Rail which can be used to mount flashlights, lasers, or tactical lights. It allows you to utilize the pistol as a backup weapon in low light conditions or when it’s difficult to observe the sights.
The model comes with all the usual features of the XD-M Elite, including an ambidextrous slide lock and magazine release. These make the gun southpaw-friendly, and improved slide serrations that provide more grip on the slide. An extended magazine well allows the storage of 22+1 rounds inside the magazine.
Much like the other members of the XD M Elite family, this model is compatible with ammunition that is +P compatible. In fact, hot loads may wear down crucial components much faster than pressure ammunition that is standard.
One of the most attractive features of this gun is the ambidextrous front as well as the rear sight. This enables left-handed shooters to comfortably operate the pistol and also makes it simple for anybody to easily grab the pistol and start shooting.
Alongside two magazines in the package along with them, you’ll receive a nylon black carrying case along with a flat bottompad to replace the fingershooks. Also included are an additional set of fiber optic rods that fit the front sight. So, it’s possible to swap the red rods for the green ones if you’re looking for a new color. It is necessary to put in the new rods by yourself, as they don’t come with any tools or directions.
Trigger Pull
At one point, the only full-size polymer pistols available in the United States were the Springfield Armory XD or The Smith & Wesson M&P, and Glock. The situation has changed as many manufacturers now make this type of pistol. However, the XD remains top of the line in the XD range.
The Elite offers a variety of innovative features that differentiate it from its predecessors, the XD and XD models, such as the hammer-forged barrel and a loaded chamber indicator at the rear of the slide. It is both a visual as well as a tactile indicator of the gun’s status. It’s also equipped with an extended, reversible magwell equipped with adjustable rear sights, as well as front sights made of red fiber optics. Also, it comes with a slide and barrel with a Melonite finish designed for long-lasting durability and improved accuracy.
The XD and XD-M pistols are renowned for their crisp trigger pulls, and this model isn’t any different. It’s also a bit more precise than the XD-M guns available at Springfield. This is a good thing if you’re shooting a lot of targets or participating in bowling pin shoots. If you want to lighten the trigger even more, Springfield has an XDM Extreme Trigger Kit available for the gun that will lower its trigger’s take-up, reset and over-travel.
The Elite was tested using the Caldwell Matrix Rest. In the first three shots it missed on the 25-yard 1.1″ dot. Two of the shots went into the four-inch radius, but the last one didn’t clear the mark. This is quite good even for a gun the size. It’s especially impressive when you consider the age of the guy and his eyes. The ammunition was Federal’s 180-gr. Trophy Bonded. It’s a loaded soft point jacketed which produces 1,275 fps speed and an impressive 650 ft.-lbs. of power at the muzzle.
The slide stop functions as an bi-lateral lever. It’s useful for shooters who are left-handed, but it’s not the same as other pistols that I have tested. In addition, there’s a lot more force required to pull the right side lever than for the left. This issue can be smoothed and „break into“ as more time passes.
Accuracy
Springfield’s XD series of handguns fired by strikers has evolved over the years. The present XD-M Elite series debuted in 2020 and features a number of options that gun owners need , such as interchangeable backstraps an excellent trigger, and an optically-ready platform. In the same way, the XD(M) Elite OPS is the same, and comes with some key improvements which make it a great selection to shoot IDPA (or USPSA competitors.
One of these upgrades https://springfieldstore.com/ are an Match Enhanced Trigger Assembly (META) and it offers the top production polymer framed trigger available for pistols. META’s flat trigger face with the blade’s safety built in and an overtravel stops improve tension of the trigger, cut down on trigger cycle time and deliver an easier and more reliable trigger break.
META leads to shorter intervals between trigger resets as well as improved precision. In my tests of the XD(M) Elite Ops, my five-shot groups using Federal Syntech 124gn target load averaged 4.3 inches. Considering this was shot from hand, with a steel benchrest and regular handgun magazines. This is an incredible outcome.
Another key improvement is the slide release and magazine release, both of which are multi-directional. This makes an XD(M) Elite OPS very user-friendly for both lefties and righties. You won’t require breaking your grip just to drop mags. The serrations on the slide are angled to allow you to operate the gun even in cold or damp hands and help prevent falling off of the firearm in recoil.
The XD(M), Elite OPS features an XD(M) muzzle that is threaded for 1/2×28 pitch suppressors. The thread protector is in a factory-installed form and can be taken off for the installation of a wide range sound suppressors.
Springfield comes with four mounting https://springfieldstore.com/ plates, each numbered in order for the user to distinguish these plates. They are built to be mounted directly onto your firearm, which allows you to effortlessly switch between red dots sights without needing to remove the slides.
The option is to substitute the traditional 4.2 inch barrel with a shorter version should you want to. Front of muzzle threaded 1/2×28, you can mount suppressors if you’re not shooting in competition.
Bottom Line
Gun makers are working hard to minimize the weight and size of concealed carry weapons but still retaining their firing power. Springfield Armory’s XD Elite 9mm is a perfect example of this. The XD-M Elite 9mm from Springfield Armory includes all of the characteristics you’d expect from a carry gun, such as the ability to swap backstraps (3 on this model), simple controls and a trigger which works perfectly.
The XD-M Elite also comes with the „standard“ magwell funnel that was designed to assist in channeling your magazine when reloading under pressure. This is crucial in times of stress, which is usually the case when using firearms in self-defense. It also keeps your gun’s magazine in line with the frame, allowing it to be fired easily and quickly.
The slide and magazine that are ambidextrous as well as ambidextrous release is yet another aspect I appreciate about this model of the XD-M Elite. This will make it more accessible for people with left hand to use the gun, particularly if you are wearing gloves. Springfield has made certain that the pistol is as user-friendly as possible with a safety grip which features depressions on both sides of pistol grip for finger placement. This reduces the risk that you’ll accidentally engage the safety on the slide while holding the gun for firing.
This model also comes with it’s own Enhanced META trigger which is made for those who want to get the most value from their striker-fired handgun. META’s internal overtravel stops prevent the trigger from moving too far making it easier to remain on track when shooting.
With regards to precision In terms of accuracy, its XD-M Elite did very well in my test. It was able to shoot four shots at smaller than 30mm, using the 124gn Federal Syntech ammo which is quite impressive. My only complaint I could detect was that the pistol may be a little too large to be comfortable for conceal carry, and is quite heavy for some individuals.
Anyone looking to buy a range or concealed carry gun, must consider taking a look at the XD-M Elite. It is an amazingly impressive. The XD Elite is a gun that can be fired by striking. It has various features essential to any gun enthusiast who wants to carry. The gun is available in two sizes. There is a special tactical version with a barrel threaded slide and an optics ready slide.
